Clinical Use Testimonials for TC Orthodontic Lab My name is William D. Neale,D.D.S.. I am an orthodontist in Fort Walton Beach, FL. I have been practicing orthodontics in Fort Walton Beach since July of 1987 (seventeen years). I have recently used Dr. Truax’s TC II appliance on the following cases with a great deal of success: J.K. 78 years 5 months female Class II Division 2 dental malocclusion, with mild crowding, history of TMD symptoms including headaches, joint sounds (crepitis), limited opening, significant inflammation of the muscles of mastication, and joint spaces. She was treated with a TC II appliance advancing the lower jaw, expanding the upper arch and advancing the upper incisors. Since placement of the TC II appliance, she has been completely free of TMD symptoms. We are currently in the detailing and finishing stages of her orthodontic alignment. The patient is very happy to be pain free. J.P. 21 years 4 months female Class I dental malocclusion with an anterior-posterior skeletal imbalance due to the underdevelopment of the lower jaw, and excessive depth of bite associate to the loss of the lower posterior dentition (#18,20,30, & 31). Her history of TMD symptoms include chronic joint and dental pain since 1996, initial joint sounds (popping) at age 13years of age with the recent onset of closed locking, severe inflammation of the muscles of mastication and joint spaces, and regular headaches. She is currently being treated with a TC II appliance, which is advancing her lower jaw, expanding her upper jaw, and advancing her upper incisors. She has been without TMD symptoms since the placement of the appliance. This is the first time since 1996 that she has been pain free, and she is very happy with the progress of her treatment. M.T. 14 years 8 months male Class II division malocclusion with an anterior-posterior skeletal imbalance due to the under developed lower jaw, and a significant sleep apnea condition. We placed a TC II appliance with the advancement of the lower jaw, expansion of upper jaw, and advancement of the upper incisors. The sleep apnea condition has been significantly reduced since the delivery of the appliance, and Mom is elated with the related changes in his health, i.e. increased energy levels, reduction in drowsiness during school day, and in general, a “better feeling child” The TC II appliance has shown great promise in the treatment of these types of cases. It required as compliant patient, but given that, it has truly has been effective. #####
I was told that all my teeth had to be pulled because of grinding for years. When I asked about my temporomandibular joint and bite problem, I really didn’t get a straight answer. I decided that there had to be something more done to relieve my pain. I saw an article about Dr. Truax and Dr. Praska working to realign jaws without surgery. I have since been having treatment for this during the last one and one half years. Words really can’t describe how much better I feel. At this point, I have no facial pain anymore, my ears don’t hurt, and I’m grateful for this. For twenty-five years, I’ve endured pain so terrible my face was swollen and I had so much pain in my face that I thought it was allergies or something. If I hadn’t found this treatment with Dr. Truax and Dr. Praska, I’m not sure what would’ve happened to me with that terrible pain.” #####
I had severe neck and jaw joint problems & I was referred to Dr. Truax & Dr. Praska for help. With the help of these appliances they changed the position of my jaw & joint and I got much relief. I’m in the final stages of getting the occlusions to line up. My 17-year-old daughter had the same problem and almost instantly her headaches were relieved after the appliance was placed. By taking care of her joint she is much improved. #####
Because of Dr. Truax and Dr. Praska, my life has changed. I grew up being ridiculed by my fellow classmates due to the fact that I had a terrible overbite throughout most of my childhood. When I was 9 years old, my family dentist was experimenting with doing some minor orthodontics and had given my parents a “good deal” to put braces on me. I had them for about a year, with very little change to my teeth. Happily, my parents accepted their money back from the failed attempt and were told to seek consultation in the Mayo Clinic orthodontic department. Keep in mind I was only 10 years old at this time, and the doctors at Mayo told me the only chance I would ever have of obtaining the perfect smile was to have jaw surgery. He said the procedure was quite simple, break the jaw, reset it so the teeth were aligned, and wire the jaw shut for six weeks. No way was I going to do that- not when I was 10- and not EVER! I decided it wasn’t worth going through that pain to have the perfect smile so my teeth were left alone. When I was 15 my best friend’s brother had started seeing Dr. Truax and Dr. Praska for his orthodontics. Their mom highly recommended that I consult them for advice on my own teeth, as she knows how self-conscious I was about my smile. After the first meeting with the doctors, I knew my prayers had been answered. Dr. Truax had assured me that he would be able to fix my teeth without any surgery, and the procedure would be quite painless. The only thing he asked of me was my commitment to stick with wearing my appliances on a regular basis. Of course at this point, I had grown up being teased and everything else, so this was the least I could do to have my perfect smile. After about 4 years of appliances, braces and retainers I can prodly say that I have one of the most beautiful smiles and perfect teeth that you will every see-and I am not just saying that myself, I have heard it from several people I’ve met through ;my college years, family dentists, and now my professional acquaintances. Dr. Truax and Dr. Praska have both given me the self-confidence that I need to put my self in the public eye and be proud of my smile. They truly did an excellent job and I felt like I was their own daughter they were performing their miraculous work on. Without them, who knows where I would be right now… #####
Thank you for so much for treating our 17-year-old daughter, Lexi, for her malocclusion. We were told by a couple of orthodontists that Lexi would need to have major surgery on her jaw. Where they would actually have to shave bone away and then correct her bite. This would entail major surgery & anesthesia. Lucky for us, out best friend sells orthodontic supplies & told us to visit Dr. Truax and Dr. Praska in Rochester, MN & to get their opinion. Thank God we did. Their treatment for Lexi. . . NO SURGERY! We were ecstatic that they could treat her with functional appliances & then braces. Driving here from Hudson WI (approx. 90 miles one way) had been worth it all. We have been nothing but pleased with each visit & most of all, Lexis success. The Doctors & staff have been great, too. We are in the final stretch -----braces. Our daughter will be able to go to college with a beautiful smile, a great bite, and best of all -----WITHOUT SURGERY. Our local orthodontist is so interested, that he would like to see her successful treatment & even mentioned that he would like to learn more about it from these two wonderful orthodontists-Dr. Truax & Dr. Praska. My daughter Shelby had consulted with two previous orthodontists and both of them told her she would need to have jaw surgery in order to correct her jaw relationship. As you may remember her lower front teeth were way out in front of her upper front teeth and Shelby was very self-conscious about her face and profile. After being told the only way to help her face with jaw surgery, she was adamant that she would not have this done. A friend of hers had jaw surgery and would experience numbness and pain in the screw areas when she went out in the cold. After hearing about your office and consulting with you, Shelby was excited that something could be done to change her jaw relationship without going through with the jaw surgery. We are very happy with her face, smile and teeth-it took very little effort on her part to wear the appliance.
