“If you look at a graph of what ancillary care spend looks like between 1980 and today, ancillary care spend in 1980 was roughly 25% of the overall healthcare spend at that point in time in the nation, today it represents north of 30% which makes it a nearly $600 billion market for services. It is taking a larger share of the pie and is expected to do so over time. For us we feel like we are uniquely positioned in the space. We are not aware of another business similar to ours...” - Steven J. Armond (XSI) (Interview published April 18, 2008)

American CareSource Holdings Tops 30,000 Provider Sites

DALLAS, TX--(Marketwire - August 03, 2009) -

American CareSource Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: ANCI), the nation's leading ancillary health care system, today announced their network of ancillary providers has surpassed the 30,000 contracted provider site mark.

"While our network will continue to grow, the 30,000 mark is a significant milestone for the company," President and Chief Executive Officer David A. Boone said. "Over the last two years we have significantly expanded both our client base and our nationwide network of ancillary providers. Our rapid growth is a direct result of our efforts to meet the network needs of our clients and a reflection of American CareSource Holdings' investment in our Provider Development efforts."

American CareSource Holdings defines their ancillary health care system participants as health care providers outside the hospital and physician line of business in 30 categories which include laboratories, diagnostic imaging centers, long term acute care facilities and dialysis clinics. The Provider Development team recruits individual providers, groups, and nationwide multi-location organizations into the Ancillary Care Services (ACS) health care system. Without charging any fees, providers in the ACS health care system can access the aggregated covered lives of the ACS clients through one point of contact for contracting and credentialing, effectively increasing their patient flow and reducing administrative costs.

"Our goal is to maximize the savings available to our clients through our nationwide network. To achieve this, we recruit the best ancillary providers in the country and then work with our clients to steer member volume to them. We also have the unique ability to tailor our network to the specific needs of each of our clients. The end result is a customized, outsourced ancillary care management solution that saves money and supports the growing trend of maximizing consumer health care decision-making about when and where they receive care," said Vice President of Provider Development Cornelia Outten.
