EXTON, Pa., Aug.
1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- WPCS International Incorporated (Nasdaq: WPCS
- News),
a leader in design-build engineering services for specialty communication
systems and wireless infrastructure, has announced that it has recently been
awarded a variety of new contracts totaling $9 million. Some of the contracts
awarded to WPCS include projects to be completed for the US Coast Guard,
Bally's Park Place Hotel and Casino, New Jersey Transit, San Mateo County
Sheriff Task Force, CALTRANS, Sutter Medical Center and the Hartford Hospital.
In addition to these contracts, New England Communication Systems (NECS), a
WPCS subsidiary, installed a wireless surveillance network for the township of
New London, CT to assist in downtown and harbor security. During the recent
annual Sailfest (http://www.sailfest.org) held in New London, one
of Connecticut's premier summertime festivals attracting over 300,000 people,
the recently installed wireless surveillance cameras captured an automobile
accident in progress, which assisted the emergency response team with the
investigation. In real time, the system captured and validated video from the
surveillance camera that illustrated what had occurred during the accident
where festival attendees were also injured.
Myron Polulak, President of
NECS, commented, "The wireless network designed and deployed by NECS
proved invaluable during the investigation of this automobile accident. This
application is one of the many examples of the productive use of wireless
technology in public safety. The market for these types of wireless systems is
growing fast and WPCS continues to be awarded new contracts due to our
experience and cost-effective deployments."
